Novel (WIP): Bellian’s Journey

Bellian’s Journey is, at this time, a 105,000 word epic fantasy.  Although the novel is a standalone work, it is intended to be the first volume of the God’s War Saga trilogy.

Bellian is the youngest son of a magician-prince.  His father, the brother of the king of a far-away country is the only magician of his family and lives in exile.  The brother has sent assassins led by a magician.  They are successful in killing his family.  But since Bellian was born after his father fled, the murderers are unaware of his existence.

The novel chronicles his journey after this terrible event.  He becomes a blacksmith, enters the army, serves the Blind God as a reader in his temple.  An old army buddy talks him into going on a quest for gold.  Bellian heads for a magician he met in the temple after the quest and the novel ends in the courts of his uncle, the man who ordered his family executed.  All the while Bellian searches for the purpose of his existence and why, in the ultimate scheme of things, he was spared.

The novel is still in the rewrite stage and who knows what will happen to Bellian while that goes on.  It is scheduled to go out to agent query towards the end of summer or early fall.
