Midsummer Madness II comes to an end.
The novel writing workshop I moderated at Liberty Hall Writers Group is coming to an end this weekend. It was a forty-two day marathon. We started with about eight participants and ended with four, counting me. The workshop is really centered around planning a novel.
The other three participants are discovery writers, known in the group [...]
Finding a Market
So I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, especially after 6 rejections for Panix. I thought it was a pretty good query letter, but I don’t think the concept is thrilling agents. I know, I know my writing is still evolving, but I do want to sell a novel. I remember speaking with James [...]
Herding my cats along
Somehow the four novels I currently have in WIP or finished form are running around in different directions. I find it necessary to herd these all together, but it’s somewhat like herding cats. They are all different and have different needs and are leading me in different directions. So I must set priorities. Still, I’ve [...]
Novel Progress
I’m getting antsy to write my thriller novel. I did a little character building today. Research is going to have to be done on this one. I imagine I’ll be using Google earth instead of a taking trips to sites. I hope Google view is still up and running when I need to look at [...]
Crafting the Novel
I found myself on an extended burnout after NaNoWriMo as I mentioned below. I’ve still been writing, but I’ve had a hard time trying to get motivated to do my Panix rewrite.
I was referred to the link below:

This is an ongoing series by Dean Wesley Smith on writing as a career. He talks about producing [...]
talk about burnout!
Here it is three weeks since my last post. I didn’t realize it but NaNo did produce a burnout condition in my writing. I have been piddling along doing the minimum on my novels, writing some shorts, a flash a week and trying like crazy to do something for Writers of the Future.
I wrote one [...]
Panix First Draft Done!
The first draft of my first Panix Gavid novel is complete! With a real beginning, a real middle, and a real end.
I finished the last few scenes today and it ended up being an emotional experience. I threw some tearjerker elements in and at least they worked on me.
Now I have to pick myself up [...]
Catching up with OWASM
It’s been nearly three weeks since the last post. I do believe that is not healthy for a blog, if it’s read or not.
Well, I’ve been moving on with my world. Thanks to Bloody August on Liberty Hall, I’ve had to develop cultures, religions, marriage customs, maps, etc. It’s been an interesting exercise and what [...]
Pent’s First Draft
I was hard at work the past ten days finishing the first draft of Panix of Pent. I was encouraged on by fellow novel laborers at Liberty Hall.
The draft came to a bit over 50,000 words. There is an event in November called the National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo. The goal is for [...]
Onward to Pent
I’ve started my novel. The draft is up to 11,000 words. The novel is past the beginning and has just now passed into the middle section. I set up 50 scenes in my planning and have burned past a third of them.
That means I’ll have to create more scenes in the middle and lengthen out [...]
